While
all of our horses are experienced trail horses some of them are not suitable for
beginners. Some of the trails in the mountains are also very steep and rocky and
some riding experience is preferable. You should be fit enough to ride for
several hours. However we do have some horses that are suitable for beginners.
In the case of beginners we will provide lessons in riding technique and safety
before we venture on the trails. There is no fee for this.

Lincoln County is a very historic county and was the location for the last great
land wars in the United States. The town of Lincoln is a dedicated historic town
and remains today as it did back in the late 1890s. There are many historic
places to visit in Lincoln. Ruidoso Downs also has the Museum of the American
West and a Billy the Kid visitor center. Ruidoso itself offers fine restaurants
and very unique shopping opportunities with an emphasis on western art and
sculpture.
